Objects of Chance is a series of objects made by chance: things with no inherent meaning until their owner gives them one. the first work, 001 · the hat, is a $100 embroidered corduroy cap you don't choose: at checkout, a machine rolls its color and stitched letters at random against published odds. five rarity tiers, common (70%), uncommon (20%), rare (8%), legendary (1.75%) and VOID (0.25%, one roll in four hundred), each own exactly one colorway. a VOID hat carries a Shakespeare sonnet excerpt on the front: the infinite monkey, finally typing Shakespeare. every hat carries the letter-monkey mark on the back, is embroidered to order, ships in 4–6 weeks, and comes with a serial-numbered rarity card and a stitched verification code. future objects will not be hats.
one embroidered corduroy cap for $100. its color, its stitched letters and its rarity tier are rolled at random the moment you check out. you see none of it before it arrives. you get a rarity card showing the tier and serial number, and the rest stays undisclosed until the box is opened.
yes: call it a blind box hat, a mystery hat, a blind buy. the mechanic is the one collectors know: you pay before you see, and chance decides what you get. the difference is that a blind box draws from a fixed set of designs, and this hat doesn't exist until it is rolled: random letters in random groups, so no two letter hats are ever the same.
no. nothing about the hat is choosable: not the color, not the letters, not the tier. quantity is the only decision you are offered. if you want to pick your hat, this is the wrong hat.
published and enforced: common 70% (black), uncommon 20% (brown), rare 8% (navy), legendary 1.75% (olive), VOID 0.25% (burgundy). one roll in four hundred. the full table, including what each tier stitches, lives at objectsofchance.com/odds. no tier is capped; the odds are the only scarcity there is.
the 1-in-400 roll. instead of random letters, a VOID hat carries an excerpt of a shakespeare sonnet on the front. the monkey finally typed it. VOID hats are burgundy, get their own numbered sequence on top of the regular serial, and their rarity card says VOID.
the monkey mark: a monkey drawn entirely out of letters, after the infinite monkey theorem the whole brand is built on. every hat carries it on the back placement, VOID included, stitched in white thread.
each hat is embroidered to order and ships in roughly 4–6 weeks. nothing is pre-made; the hat literally does not exist until your roll creates it.
no: all sales are final, because every hat is custom-made at random and cannot be resold. chance is non-refundable. if a hat arrives defective or damaged, contact orders@objectsofchance.com with photos within 14 days and we will replace it or refund you.
every hat has a six-character code stitched on its left side, which resolves at objectsofchance.com/v/<code> to the hat's public record: serial, tier, date made, and whether it has been registered. a paper slip inside the box carries a separate one-time claim code that registers the hat to its owner.
the tier is informational, not an investment. it confers no monetary value and we make no claims about resale. it is a fact about how improbable your hat was, certified on its card.
